BLADES TRADE HUNT TO SPOKANE....

Saskatoon, SK. - The Saskatoon Blades this morning announced that they have traded 18 year old netminder Keyvan Hunt to the Spokane Chiefs for a Conditional 6th Round Bantam Selection in the 2005 WHL Bantam Draft.

With today's move the Blades still have three netminders in camp: 20 year old Ryan Cyr, 19 year old Adam Ward along with 18 year old Russel Monette.

Last season Keyvan saw spot duty with the Blades before being sent to the junior ranks in British Columbia.

WHL CUTS HELPING SOME SJHL TEAMS....

PRINCE ALBERT, SK. - The Prince Albert Raiders made a roster move Wednesday afternoon, assigning 17 year-old left winger Jordan Morgan to the Weyburn Red Wings.

The move leaves the Raiders with 25 players (3 goaltenders, 7 defenceman, 15 forwards) on their training camp roster.

Meanwhile, the Yorkton Terriers are not likely to land 20-year-old defenseman Josh Garbutt. The Kamloops Blazers traded Garbutt to the Prince George Cougars on Wednesday in exchange for Tyrel Moulton, who is also 20.

A 5'11", 213 Ib native of Medicine Hat, Garbutt played 65-games last season with Kamloops/Brandon and recorded 29-points, 55-penalty minutes, and a -3 rating. Garbutt has family ties to the Yorkton area.

The Prince George roster now has 27 players (14 forwards, 10 defensemen, 3 goalies).

VIPERS DEAL DAFOE....

Vernon, BC. - The Vernon Vipers dealt with their 20-year-old issue by swinging a three-way deal Wednesday afternoon. The Vipers traded winger Scott Dafoe to the Powell River Kings for Parker Burgess. Vernon then dealt Burgess to the Lloydminster Blazers of the AJHL in exchange for 19-year-old winger Wade Davidson.

Davidson, a former WHLer with the Regina Pats, is a natural right winger with speed and the ability to put up big numbers.

Dafoe, a Revelstoke product who spent two seasons with the Vipers, had 16 goals, 32 points and 126 penalty minutes in 59 games last season.

The Vipers tangle with the Timberwolves Saturday night in Williams Lake. Vernon entertains the Penticton Vees in their home opener Sept. 17 at the Multiplex.
